This is truly a tragic story. An experiened couple were in the backcountry near Big Sky and were swept up in an avy. They both had beacons, but apparently did not anticipate the seriousness of the conditions. The beacons were not turned on. Inge Perkins died in the avy. Hayden Kennedy tried to find her, but could not. He later committed suicide.

Wow, what a tragedy, it’s crazy to think of an avalanche so early in the season, but I guess they have been getting a lot of snow in MT.
