Is it odd that SnowShoe only groomed the green trails on March 11?  I am a hugh fan of ungroomed trails when conditions warrant it, but the last two days of rain and rain/mist/fog resulted in all the trails that were not groomed being pocked up ice.  Skieable -yes.  Fun, not so much, at least for most skiers that I know.

Normally I am very happy to see ungroomed trails, but it was a bad choice by SS to not groom any trails except the greens today, IMO.

I'm not positive but I think they have a hard time grooming when it's warm so it makes sense that they could only do the greens.

Not to hijack, but probably not worth another thread... does anyone see the weather getting better for SS at the end of March? I have a weekend booked there and am worried we are going to have complete crap for conditions.

That said I did the same thing last weekend at timberline. Day 1 - rain. Day 2 - 8 inches of powder. Hoping maybe the same will happen again :D

I saw it was supposed to get a little cooler later next week into the weekend of 3/20 - 22.

I heard that the reason for things being left ungroomed with warm rain the groomers will heat up and melt more snow and it was done to save the base. That being said Cupp and Most of Shays were groomed this AM and before it got warm were really nice.

Thanks for the insights.  It did and does seem like they have groomed when it has been warmer and wetter, but perhaps SS had their reasons.

Grooming makes the snow melt faster.   Especially in rain.  It helps save the base.

I have seen 7springs skip of grooming in the spring in the past.
